American Airlines will launch flights between Miami and Barcelona, Venezuela, on 15 January 2027, adding a third destination to its Venezuelan network.

The airline will operate three weekly return flights to Barcelona (BLA), on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, using Embraer 175 aircraft. The service will complement existing flights from Miami (MIA) to Caracas (CCS) and Maracaibo (MAR).

Flights from Miami are scheduled to depart at 10:15 and arrive in Barcelona at 14:52 local time. The return service will depart Barcelona at 15:32 and arrive in Miami at 18:19. The Embraer 175 aircraft will feature a premium cabin, Wi-Fi and in-seat power.

Barcelona and nearby Puerto La Cruz are commercial and industrial centres in eastern Venezuela. The new route aims to support business connections between the region and the US, while providing passengers with onward connections through Miami to more than 100 destinations in North America.

Stephen Neuman, American Airlines' senior vice president and chief government affairs officer said:

American is proud of the robust service we’re providing to Venezuela and prouder still that we are the only U.S. airline serving Venezuela. The addition of Barcelona further strengthens our long-standing commitment to the country. This new flight to our Miami hub will also benefit customers with one-stop access to more than 100 destinations in North America. We are grateful to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and both the U.S. and Venezuelan governments for their support in launching this new service.

American Airlines resumed services to Venezuela earlier in 2026, becoming the first US airline to restore flights to the country. It subsequently resumed daily service to Caracas after the airport reopened to international flights.

Following the introduction of the Barcelona route, American Airlines plans to operate 24 weekly flights between the United States and Venezuela. The schedule will comprise two daily flights to Caracas, one daily flight to Maracaibo and three weekly flights to Barcelona, all from Miami.
