Bristol Airport has officially awarded a 30 million GBP terminal extension project to Farrans.
The project forms part of a wider 400 million GBP investment to transform the airport experience for passengers.

Work has already commenced on a two-floor terminal extension which will infill an area between the current terminal building and the departure gates. This new area will enable a capacity increase to 12 million passengers per year, creating more space and almost doubling the existing number of shops and restaurants with 17 new units being incorporated into the design.
Space will also be included for island retail units, as well as additional seating.
In the arrivals hall, a new domestic arrivals reclaim area with an additional baggage carousel will increase capacity by 20%, with accessibility in immigration also set to be improved with new lifts and stairs.
Farrans was previously responsible for the completion of the new Public Transport Interchange at Bristol Airport in July 2025, a project that was carried out in a joint venture with Griffiths. The 60 million GBP project also formed part of Bristol Airport’s 400 million GBP investment programme, and has enabled around 250 public transport movements per day.
Andrew Goodenough, Infrastructure Director at Bristol Airport, said:We have ambitious plans to transform our customer experience over the next couple of years, and we really appreciate our customers patience and understanding while all of these massive improvements are taking place.
Floor space is going to increase by almost 45% and we’ll have a total of 38 retail and food and beverage outlets including premium brands and dining options as well as a hidden speakeasy bar. We’re pleased to have Farrans back on site with us to deliver this project following the success of our Public Transport Interchange.
