The Chicago Department of Aviation has announced that the first phase of gate renumbering is complete at O’Hare International Airport as part of the 1 billion USD expansion and modernisation project at Terminal 5.
Chicago O’Hare International Airport’s Terminal 5 redevelopment project will add 10 new gates to its eastern wing. New signage has been installed on five existing “M” gates to support the terminal’s upcoming gate configuration.

The second phase of the renumbering will be completed at the end of April, before the terminal opens later in 2022.
Chicago O’Hare’s modernised Terminal 5 will increase passenger amenity space by 66%, reconfigure the customs facilities and replace the existing baggage handling system to ensure Terminal 5 provides an enhanced passenger experience for domestic and international travellers.

Once the new gates are complete, Delta Air Lines will relocate to Terminal 5 from its existing location in Terminal 2. The move will enable Delta and its SkyTeam alliance partners to consolidate their operations into the same terminal to provide a better passenger experience.
