Fraport AG has announced that May 2026 saw approximately 5.7 million passengers pass through Frankfurt Airport – a 2.7% increase compared to the same month in 2025.
Destinations in the South of Europe saw particularly strong growth, with long-haul destinations in the Far East, Africa and Latin America all recording increases.

Cargo volume fell by 1.3% to 176,725 tonnes within the reporting month, whilst the number of aircraft movements was down 2.1% at 41,377 takeoffs and landings.
Total maximum takeoff weight reached approximately 2.5 million tonnes, a decrease of 1.9% when compared to 2025.
Meanwhile, other Fraport areas saw increases across the board, with Ljubljana Airport experiencing a significant rise in passenger numbers, increasing by 11.2%, whilst Brazilian airports in Fortaleza and Porto Alegre recorded 1.2 million passengers, a 5.7% increase.
At Lima Airport in Peru, passenger numbers rose to approximately 2.2 million in the reporting month, a 1.3% increase, whilst Fraport’s 14 Greek airports served a total of 4.0 million passengers, representing an overall 6.0% increase.
Burgas and Varna in Bulgaria welcomed 252,375 travelers (a 13.3% increase), and passenger numbers at Antalya Airport in Turkey declined by 5.0% to 3.7 million.
In total, the passenger volume across all airports actively managed by Fraport hit 17.1 million across the month – 1.9% higher than the same period in 2025.
