Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is continuing its Domestic Terminal Parking Deck Renewal and Replacement Project by commencing the overhaul of its North parking deck.

This multi-year project will see the renewal and replacement of the North and South decks.

The ParkATL projects sit within the airport’s capital improvement programme – ATLNext – and include elements of renewal, replacement and new development of the parking facilities, which will impact parking at the airport for a number of months.

The North parking deck has several zones and there are currently closures to the North Hourly parking level as a result of this renewal project. However, the North parking deck will remain operational with a minimum of 3,000 spaces available throughout, including EV charging spaces. The project is expected to be complete in late October 2023.

The project aims to prolong the parking decks’ lifespans before they will eventually have to be replaced.

North South Deck Renewal project started in April 2022. During that project, repairs worth around 17 million USD were carried out, extending the parking deck’s life by around five years. The improvements to the North Deck should cost around 20 million USD and expand the parking deck’s life by 10 years.

Construction of the new South Deck will start this autumn and consist of 7,800 parking stalls once complete. Like the ATL West Deck, it will have digital parking space availability and wayfinding, ticketless entry and exit, LED lighting and other features. The full replacement of both the North and South Decks will take place over the coming years.
