India: Chennai International Airport to Offer Metro Station Check-In

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has announced that airport check-in and bag drop will soon be available at metro stations for passengers travelling from Chennai International Airport.

This partnership with Chennai Metro Rail Limited aims to enhance the travel experience and improve efficiency at the airport.

The check-in service will first operate on a trial basis at selected Chennai Metro stations that see a demand for airport-bound travellers.

Once implemented, passengers will check-in their luggage and be issued with their boarding pass at a dedicated counter at the Metro station.

It is hoped that this option will reduce congestion on roads leading to airport by increasing the attractiveness of travelling by Metro.

The feasibility study is expected to take place from March 2023. The service will then be further extended to more metro stations in response to passenger demand.
