Smiths Detection has launched its new SDX 10080 SCT at this year’s inter airport show in Munich.
The new CT scanner is the first to build on what is set to be a common EDS platform for Smiths Detection platforms in the future.

Combining elements of its HI-SCAN 10080 XCT and CTZ 9800; Smiths Detection’s latest screening solution utilises a dual-energy Computed Tomography (CT) scanner, which aims to provide detection performance with a dual-view, dual-energy line scanner, as well as offer a system built to evolve to meet both operational and regulatory needs.
The SDX 10080 SCT has been specifically designed for high-volume screening environments and is capable of handling a throughput of over 1,800 bags per hour with its 100 x 80 cm tunnel.
Reduced power consumption and a simplified air-based cooling system enable lower operating costs, with its reduced height aiming to simplify installation.
Highlights of the SDX 10080 SCT also include 3D and optional 2D high resolution colour images, a belt speed of 0.5 metres per second, a scalable and adaptable modular design and optiomal iCMORE algorithms for extended detection capabilities.
