Kansai Airports has announced the official opening of a series of new stores in the international departure area of Kansai International Airport (KIX).

The stores, which have been developed as part of Phase 4 of the Terminal 1 renovation project, are scheduled to open on Tuesday 2 June 2026.

Initially started in 2021, the Terminal 1 renovation project has thus far been carried out in phases with the aim of enhancing international flight capacity, upgrading the airside area and improving the passenger experience. Major functional upgrades were completed in March 2025, and the grand opening of the renovated Terminal 1 has marked a significant evolution toward accommodating future traffic growth.

Now in its final phase, Phase 4, the newly expanded north–south section of the international departure area – which was first opened in December 2023 – will welcome 24 new stores, including luxury brands, shops making their debut at a Japanese airport, retail stores and fast food chains.

With the opening of the new retail area, the five-year Terminal 1 renovation will be fully completed. The floor area of the central international zone will be 1.6 times larger than it was before the renovation, and the Kansai Airports Group will continue to collaborate with partners to create new travel experiences as the gateway to the Kansai region, welcoming guests from Japan and around the world.
