Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has announced the opening of the new Rental Car Centre at Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX).
The new, state-of-the-art rental car facility comes as part of LAWA’s 5.5 billion USD Landside Access Modernisation Program (LAMP), which aims to create a seamless experience for travellers ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Consolidating all 12 on-airport rental car operations into one location; the new, 6.4 million square-foot rental car centre is expected to streamline the pick up and return process. A fully integrated facility, the site provides fuelling, washing and light vehicle maintenance services.
John Ackerman, Chief Executive Officer, Los Angeles World Airports said:The LAX Rental Car Center marks a major step in transforming LAX and improving the travel experience.
It positions LAX to better serve our partners and the millions of guests expected for the 2026 World Cup and beyond.
Construction on the renal car centre first broke ground in September 2019, with the first concrete pour taking place in March 2020. The structure was then topped off in July 2021 and completed in 2023, with adjacent roadways completed in 2024. In October 2024, the centre introduced three Avis brands (Avis, Budget, Payless) and began initial operations.
The full opening of the car centre follows months of close coordination and planning between LAWA and the rental car companies, ultimately leading to the relocation of the final nine brands to the centre this month. Brands operating on site include:
- Alamo Rent a Car
- Avis Rent A Car System
- Budget Rent a Car
- Dollar Car Rental
- Enterprise Rent-A-Car
- Fox Rent A Car
- Hertz
- National Car Rental
- Payless Car Rental
- Sixt
- Thrifty Car Rental
