Lagardère Travel Retail France has won the tender to manage the Duty Free and Fashion areas at Nice Côte d’Azur airport, the country’s second largest gateway.

Launched in September 2023, this invitation to tender concerned the renewal of the airport’s entire retail offering, with the aim of providing a unique experience for travellers, combining “French-style luxury” with a local offering that highlights the uniqueness of the Côte d’Azur and the richness, diversity and art of living of the French Riviera.

Duty free shop in an airport

Lagardère Travel Retail France is extending its presence at France’s second-largest airport by broadening the scope of its activities, thereby strengthening a partnership that spans more than 25 years. This eight-year contract marks a major turning point in the airport’s shopping experience, with redesigned spaces and an exceptional offering for the millions of passengers who pass through the airport every year.

With this new offering, Lagardère Travel Retail France aims to create a genuine alchemy between travelers, brands and products, making every visit to Nice Côte d’Azur airport a unique and memorable experience.

A Rich and Complementary Retail Offering at the Heart of the Airport

Lagardère Travel Retail France has been entrusted with the management of 14 boutiques, spread over 3,500m², in terminals 1 and 2 of the airport. From emblematic French luxury brands to tailor-made gastronomic and local craft concepts, as well as high-end fashion brands, this is a varied and complementary offering for all ages that will delight travelers.

They can enjoy iconic international brands such as Chanel, Dior, Moët & Chandon, Fauchon and Longchamp, as well as a selection of fashionable brands such as Kerastase, Charlotte Tilbury and La Maison du Chocolat.

At the same time, travelers will be able to discover brands such as Bottega della Riviera, and local brands such as Maison Gannac, Les Niçois and Château La Mascarone, all of which exude the sunshine of the Côte d’Azur and promote the art of living on the French Riviera. The new outlets will open gradually between 2025 and 2026.

A Premium and Innovative Experience For All Passengers

The objective is clear: to transform passenger waiting time into a unique and unparalleled experience. A reimagined customer journey, premium concepts developed hand in hand with partner brands to offer a unique experience and unrivalled product presentation. Travelers find a haven of serenity, far removed from the stress and frenzy that can represent the departure on a trip, or the arrival after a long flight.

Lagardère Travel Retail is banking on a physical and digital experience that resonates with the identity of the Côte d’Azur. Premium services will be put in place to offer an attentive, warm and personalized welcome. This new offer is also part of an omnichannel approach, enabling passengers to enjoy a seamless experience, from discovery to purchase.

A Strong Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility

Beyond its commercial dimension, this project is part of an ambitious strategy of social and environmental responsibility. By 2025, 15% of the range will be made up of local products, and 20% of responsible products. In addition, all phases of the design, construction and operation of the shops will be designed to minimise their environmental impact, giving priority to local materials and optimised energy and waste management.

Candice Cadreils, Director of the Commercial BU at Aéroports de la Côte d'Azur, said:

Nice Côte d'Azur is the link between the Riviera and the rest of the world. It's a showcase for brands expressing the richness of a local heritage with international influence, but also for the standard-bearers of French know-how. Between authenticity and luxury, the unexpected and the desired, the exclusive and the family-friendly, we have designed an offer for the wide variety of our passengers, all of whom want to retain some of the magic of the Côte d'Azur while enjoying a unique airport experience.

Benoît Cartier-Bresson, Managing Director Duty Free France Regions & Luxembourg of Lagardère Travel Retail France, said:

We are extremely proud to be extending our 25-year partnership with Nice Côte d'Azur airport, a collaboration that aims to offer a shopping experience that is unprecedented in Europe. Thanks to the remarkable work of our passionate teams and all our partners, we will be offering a new and innovative range of shops, built exclusively for Nice Côte d'Azur airport. With 14 boutiques, spread over more than 3,500m², we have designed spaces where iconic, internationally renowned brands, emblematic houses of French know-how, as well as authentic local brands, will come together. Each space will embody the spirit of the ‘Côte d'Azur’, whether through locally inspired architecture or a rich selection of products from the region, while incorporating a demanding responsible approach that is fundamental to our approach to Travel Retail. These commitments will translate into a singular, surprising experience, facilitated by new services, which will aim to create the perfect alchemy for travelers at Nice airport.
