Reykjavik Keflavik International Airport is progressing with the modernisation of its arrivals area, with construction scheduled for completion in spring 2026.
The section is one of the airport’s oldest operational areas and has remained largely unchanged for several decades.
The arrivals lobby is being expanded as part of the project. According to the airport operator, the aim is to improve passenger flow, increase comfort, and support higher traffic levels.

Recent progress includes the start of construction on new and upgraded service counters for car rental companies inside the terminal. Work has also begun in the customs corridor and in the space directly in front of it.

Retail facilities in the arrivals hall are also being altered. A convenience store that opened before Christmas is due to be enlarged, with new operators expected to begin trading in late autumn 2025. While rebuilding takes place, a temporary pop-up stand is providing drinks and light refreshments.
Meanwhile, work is progressing on an extension to the arrivals-side entrance to the terminal.
Airport management states that construction is being phased to reduce operational impact where possible, though some short-term inconvenience is expected while the upgrades are completed.
