Today, SignAgent announced the launch of Meet the Waymakers, a podcast featuring conversations with signage and wayfinding practitioners who shape how people move through the world. From the bustling terminals of international airports to the high-stakes corridors of modern hospitals, the show explores the “hidden logic” that makes spaces navigable, intuitive, and inclusive.

Each episode features an in-depth conversation with an industry practitioner, exploring career-defining projects, the unique aspects of wayfinding and signage across different sectors, emerging trends, and the impact of well-designed wayfinding systems.

James Bosma, Vice President, Marketing at SignAgent, said:

Wayfinding is a largely hidden field, shaped by talented people whose work quietly influences how millions of us move through the world every day. With Meet the Waymakers, we want to bring greater visibility to this essential work—and celebrate the underappreciated practitioners behind it.

The podcast is designed for anyone involved in planning, designing, fabricating, implementing, or managing signage and wayfinding programs. It is also for anyone curious about what and who is behind the places we move through every day without thinking.

While every conversation follows its own path, each episode returns to a few defining questions: Guests are asked to share a story of a time they found themselves hopelessly lost, explain how they found their way into the field, reflect on what they have learned, and offer advice to young people just starting out. Each episode closes with the guest offering a unique “traveller’s blessing”—a wish for everyone finding their way through the world.

Premiere Episode Available Now

The premiere episode of the podcast is now live, featuring an in-depth conversation on how design and human behaviour intersect in large-scale built environments. Host and Vice President of Marketing James Bosma sits down with Jonathan Mugmon, Principal – Wayfinding Director at global design firm Populous. Jonathan is also the author of the recently published book, The Science of Wayfinding.

Drawing from more than thirty years of experience developing human-centered navigation strategies for cities, cultural institutions, and iconic sports and entertainment venues, Jonathan translates core principles from his book into practical design solutions. The discussion centers on the importance of empathetic design, analyzing how distinct audience demographics interact within shared spaces, and accounting for the impact of culture and local context on strategy.

Jonathan also previews the upcoming design bootcamp he and his team will lead at SEGD’s annual conference in Kansas City.

The episode is streaming on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube.
