Sojitz, together with Saudi Arabia’s development and investment company Vision Invest and Korean airport operator Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), has announced the signing of a 35-year concession agreement with Uzbekistan Airports for the development and operation of a new international airport planned for the capital city, Tashkent.
Scheduled to open in 2030, the new airport is projected to cost more than 370 billion JPY, and establish the site as Central Asia’s largest aviation hub for passenger transport, cargo and logistics.

The project will be developed and operated by Sojitz, Vision Invest, IIAC and Uzbekistan Airports, with each company set to leverage the collective expertise in order to deliver a safe and convenient new airport.
Sojitz will utilise its experience within the aviation sector to attract airlines to the airport, as well as operate related businesses including airport concessions and ground handling in order to increase the new airport’s overall value.
Once operational, the airport is expected to be capable of accommodating up to 20 million passengers per year – doubling the yearly total at the existing airport.
With a recorded real GDP growth of more than 7.7% in 2025; Uzbekistan stands as the largest market region in Central Asia, touting a population of 37 million people. Under its national development strategy, Uzbekistan-2030, the government has stated intentions to promote infrastructure development and aviation sector reforms through a series of public-private partnerships (PPP).
