Swissport International has agreed to form a joint venture with Indonesian ground handling company UNEX Aviation Services, marking the company’s entry into Indonesia.
Under binding transaction agreements, Swissport will acquire a stake in Jakarta-based UNEX Aviation Services. The companies plan to expand the business beyond its existing air cargo operations to include ground handling and passenger services at airports across Indonesia.
Founded in 2003, UNEX Aviation Services provides air cargo warehousing and related services to international and domestic airlines at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. The company also holds ground handling licences covering operations across Indonesia.
Swissport said the joint venture will initially build on UNEX’s existing cargo operations before expanding into areas including ramp handling and passenger services. The partners also intend to extend their operations to additional Indonesian airports.

The agreement adds Indonesia to Swissport’s Asia-Pacific network, which currently includes operations in China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
In 2025, Swissport’s Asia-Pacific operations handled approximately 25 million passengers, 632,000 flights and 450,000 tonnes of cargo, supported by around 10,000 employees.
The joint venture will combine UNEX Aviation Services’ local operations with Swissport’s international ground handling and cargo experience as the partners develop their presence in Indonesia.
