Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC) has contracted Nokia to upgrade the communications infrastructure across Terminals 1 and 2, as part of a wider effort to strengthen operational reliability and cybersecurity, while supporting future growth.
The project, delivered in partnership with HwaCom Systems, will introduce Nokia’s mission-critical IP/MPLS technology to underpin a range of airport systems.

TIAC, which managed close to 45 million passengers in 2024, is preparing for continued demand in both passenger and cargo services. A third terminal is under development and is scheduled to enter service in 2027. As the airport expands, TIAC is seeking improved protection against cyber threats, better service continuity and a network that can support current and emerging operational requirements.
Director of Information and Communications Technology Department, Taoyuan International Airport Corporation said:Airport networks must always be exceptionally secure with the highest level of network reliability, performance and safety in order to deliver superior experience to the passengers. We have been impressed by the work of Nokia with its partner HwaCom to ensure timely execution of the project.
Under the agreement, Nokia will consolidate multiple communication services into a unified infrastructure. This includes voice, data and video, as well as operational technologies such as check-in kiosks, baggage handling, Wi-Fi and CCTV. According to Nokia, this approach is intended to simplify network management and help reduce operational costs.
TIAC will also gain access to an end-to-end network, service and security management platform designed to give more detailed insight into network performance and overall system health.
Stuart Hendry, Vice President, Enterprise Sales, Network Infrastructure, Asia Pacific, Nokia said:Our mission-critical network solutions are trusted across the world for their resilience and performance. We are honoured to be chosen for this prestigious project, executed in collaboration with our partner HwaCom. Nokia’s IP/MPLS solution will help Taoyuan International Airport improve airport safety and operations while reducing energy consumption.
The upgrade includes Nokia’s 7750 Service Router, 7250 Interconnect Routers and 7210 Service Access System. The airport will also adopt Nokia’s Network Service Platform, which is designed to automate and streamline network operations.
