The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) has announced the appointment of Sarah K. McKeon as the new Director of Aviation for its airport operations, effective from the beginning of March.
McKeon succeeds former Director Charles R. Everett Jr., who has retired after a 40-year long career in the industry.

McKeon, a former First Deputy Aviation Director and General Manager for both Newark Liberty International and Teterboro Airports, first joined the PANYNJ in 2004, and will be responsible for the continued operation of John F. Kennedy International (JFK), Newark Liberty International (EWR), LaGuardia (LGA), New York Stewart International (SWF) and Teterboro (TEB) airports.
Port Authority Chairman, Kevin O’Toole, said:We thank Charles Everett for his extraordinary leadership in steering our airports through a period of remarkable expansion and modernisation.
As we look to the future, Sarah McKeon’s rise through the ranks over 21 years at the Port Authority is evidence of her one-of-a-kind expertise, dedication, and leadership. Her deep knowledge and hands-on experience will be invaluable as she takes the helm during this transformation of our major airports.
The change in leadership comes in the wake of a record-breaking year for passenger numbers at the Authority’s commercial airports, which saw a total of 145.9 million passengers travel through its system in 2024.
