Tampa International Airport (TPA) is gearing up for Spring Break, and has announced the debut of a number of new technological enhancements that aim to streamline the general passenger experience.

With 3.1 million travellers expected between March 5 and April 13; TPA has stated that it expects to serve an average of 75,000 to 80,000 travellers per day, with a forecasted peak of more than 90,000 travellers on Sunday 22 March.

In order to prepare for the increased passenger traffic, TPA has implemented a wealth of new enhancements, including new airside shuttles, digital displays showing live security checkpoint wait times in the Main Terminal’s Shuttle Lobby at Airside A,  TSA PreCheck Touchless ID, biometric technology within customs processing, pre-order services for food and beverages and new, reservable parking spots with discounted rates.

Airport teams, who have been preparing for the period for several months, have been known to refer to the spring break travel window as TPA’s ‘Super Bowl’, and have been ensuring all restaurants, shops, and parking garages are fully staffed, while the SkyConnect train will operate with extra cars to handle the surge.

TPA has encourages all travellers to plan ahead, arrive early and take advantage of the tools provided to reduce any travel-related stress this spring break.
