VINCI Airports has signed an agreement to acquire the majority shareholding in Edinburgh Airport (EDI).

Under this contract, the VINCI Concessions subsidiary will acquire a 50.01 percent shareholding in the company owning Edinburgh Airport.

Alongside its existing shares in Belfast International and London Gatwick, this purchase will expand VINCI Airports’ UK network to three freehold airports.

The transaction is valued at 1.27 billion GBP and is expected to be completed in summer 2024.

The remaining 49.99 percent stake in EDI will be managed by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), which has owned the airport since 2012.

VINCI Airports plans to leverage its experience in airports globally to further develop Edinburgh Airport. This will include both aeronautical and non-aeronautical elements of the business.

For example, the strategic plan includes opening new routes and making additional investments in retail options at the airport. The company also plans to further improve the airport’s ESG metrics.
