The Port of Seattle has selected AECOM to manage the design and engineering work for the S Concourse Evolution at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
Under this contract, AECOM will work closely with design partner HOK to oversee the design and engineering work for the project.
The S Concourse Evolution aims to modernise the facility through a combination of renovation and new construction.
It will focus on restructuring and repurposing the existing seven-level, 350,000-square-foot space to increase operational efficiency and enhance the passenger experience.
Matt Crane, chief executive of AECOM’s US West region said; Our relationship with SEA dates back over two decades and we’re looking forward to building on that legacy, deploying practices and bringing expertise honed from our extensive aviation experience to one of the nation’s most visited airports. We are committed to creating a new S Concourse that is an exemplar in airport design, passenger experience, and safety – bolstering its standing as a key transportation hub to the Pacific Northwest.
To accommodate the ongoing growth in passenger numbers at SEA, this project will transform the airport’s existing S Concourse into a more modern and functional space.
Planned upgrades include the redevelopment of the vacated Federal Inspection Services (FIS) and Customers and Border Protection (CBP) spaces for shopping and dining; a reconfiguration of the concourse level for more efficient circulation; an expansion of the Penthouse level to provide additional premium lounge space; and upgrades to structural systems through the addition of new gate pods.
AECOM will also focus on implementing strategies that support the Port’s energy and sustainability plans.
