Autonomous Service Robot Introduced at Munich Airport

Munich Airport (MUC) has introduced the JEEVES service robot in Terminal 2 to provide snacks and beverages for passengers.

This robot has been developed by Robotise to operate within an airport environment. It stands at a compact height of 110 centimetres and navigates autonomously through the gate areas on Levels 4 and 5 to serve travellers with chilled soft drinks and snacks.

JEEVES is equipped with a large touchscreen interface to allow passengers to browse and purchase items. It is also compatible with a range of cashless payment methods including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and major credit cards.

The deployment of JEEVES at Munich Airport involved a strategic collaboration between Terminal 2 Gesellschaft, a subsidiary of Munich Airport and Lufthansa, and Robotise. This partnership aims to optimise logistical operations while exploring passenger acceptance of robotics in airport environments.

The robot will be piloted during a one-year trial period. This trial will evaluate the efficacy and feasibility of integrating service robots into airport operations.
