Biman Bangladesh Airlines has signed an order for a set of 10 latest-generation Airbus aircraft, including four A350-900 widebody and six A321neo single-aisle aircraft.

The purchase of the aircraft, which will operate from the airline’s primary hub in Dhaka, represents a significant milestone in Biman Bangladesh Airlines’ fleet modernisation strategy, as well as its ambition to expand its international network to areas such as North America, as well as key destinations across Europe and the Middle East.

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, EVP Sales of the Airbus Commercial Aircraft business, said:

This order marks a significant milestone in our partnership with Biman Bangladesh Airlines, as it embarks on this important phase of fleet modernisation. Together, the A350 and A321neo form the perfect fleet strategy for Biman as it spreads its wings to new international destinations, catering to the growing demand across its network.

Airbus’s aircraft will provide the airline with the efficiency, range and versatility needed to connect Bangladesh to key markets across the globe, while delivering an exceptional experience to its passengers.

Capable of flying up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometres) in one journey, the A350 is the world’s most modern widebody aircraft. It includes state-of-the-art technologies and an aerodynamic design that aims to provide high standards of efficiency and comfort, whilst its latest-generation Rolls-Royce engines and use of lightweight materials seek to provide a 25% advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions when compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.

Meanwhile, the A321neo offers segment-leading operating economics and extended range in an effort to enable airlines to serve both regional and medium-haul routes with greater flexibility. When compared with previous-generation aircraft, the A321neo delivers lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions of at least 20%.
