The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has announced the concessions lineup for Newark Liberty International Airport’s (EWR) new 2.7 billion USD Terminal A development, which is expected to open later this year.

The lineup includes New Jersey brands such as Jersey Mike’s, Smokehouse BBQ, Office Tavern & Grill, New Jersey Monthly, Playa Bowls, and W.B. Law Coffee, who have all signed agreements to operate within the new 1-million-square foot terminal.

The Port Authority has also invested 3 million USD to provide retail space in the terminal’s main hall for businesses from Elizabeth and Newark. These locally owned and operated stores include The Black Home, Tonnie’s Minis, Artist Pop Shop, GWER Gelato, and Bold Newark Black Owned Local Designs.

EWR’s new terminal will showcase nearly 60 regional, national, and global brands when it opens later in 2022
New Jersey Governor, Phil Murphy, said:

The Port Authority’s investment in the inclusion of locally owned and operated stores reflects the importance of New Jersey’s small businesses, which act as the backbone of our local economies. Local businesses from Elizabeth and Newark, in addition to several quintessentially Jersey brands, represent the vast diversity of our state’s commercial sector. Overall, Terminal A will solidify our position as a hub for domestic and international travel, while providing a tremendous boost to our already burgeoning economy.

Nationally recognisable brands such as Starbucks, Shake Shack, Bluestone Lane, and Hugo Boss also have signed agreements to operate in the new Terminal A.

Once complete, the new terminal will replace EWR’s existing Terminal A, providing passengers with a modern facility that can meet future travel demands. The new terminal features 33 common-use gates and has capacity for approximately 14 million annual passengers.

Port Authority Chairman, Kevin O’Toole, said:

The new terminal will offer a combination of global and national brands as well as local concepts that create a real sense of place and pride in the state of New Jersey. We’re committed to delivering exceptional services and amenities to travellers while helping to support the local economy.

Terminal A is the state’s largest design-build project. It is expected to generate more than 4.6 billion USD in regional economic activity, create more than 23,000 jobs, and provide more than 1.9 billion USD in wages.

Munich Airport NJ LLC, a subsidiary of Munich Airport in Germany and manager of the current EWR Terminal A, will be responsible for airport operations, maintenance, and concession management services at the new terminal.
