flydubai has announced the launch of new direct flights to Benghazi in Libya, becoming the first UAE carrier to operate direct services between Dubai and Benghazi Benina International Airport (BEN) in the process.
Flights will begin operating on 17 June 2026 from Terminal 3 at Dubai International (DXB), and will aim to strengthen connectivity between the UAE and Libya whilst offering passengers from Benghazi the opportunity to benefit from access to flydubia’s network.

The addition of Benghazi brings flydubai’s network across East and North Africa to 13 destinations, with the carrier recently beginning to offer services in Nairobi – its second placement in Kenya after Mombasa – as well as seasonal operations to Al Alamein in Egypt, which operates from June during the busy summer period.
In recent weeks; flydubai has begun to resume operations to a large portion of destinations in its network, including the GCC and the Middle East, as well as select destinations in Europe and Russia. Operations will soon restart for services to seasonal summer destinations, including Bodrum, Dubrovnik, Mykonos, Santorini, Tivat, and more, from 22 May 2026. The carrier also recently announced the launch of its daily service to Bangkok, its second destination in Thailand alongside Krabi, from 01 July 2026.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, said:The launch of our new operations to Libya marks another milestone in our network expansion strategy and reinforces our commitment to opening underserved markets and establishing new air links between countries.
We have recently been scaling up our operations with a continued focus on adding new routes and frequencies as travel demand increases, and by the summer, our network is expected to grow to more than 100 destinations.
The strength, resilience and agility of the UAE’s aviation ecosystem have enabled us to continue to realise opportunities and capitalise on Dubai’s hub to explore new and emerging markets such as Libya.
