HOK has been selected to lead the design team for the expansion of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport’s (PHX) Terminal 3.

This new North Concourse expansion will add six gates, new lounges, additional dining and retail options and clear wayfinding.

The concourse will also include new connections between Terminals 3 and 4 to facilitate easy transfers. Meanwhile, its lower level will support airport, airline and vendor operations.

To deliver this project, HOK will serve as the design architect and lead structural engineer, while DFDG Architecture has been selected as the local architect.

This team will collaborate with the City of Phoenix to ensure the design serves both passengers and staff, while also enabling future growth and flexibility. Construction is currently scheduled to begin in 2025.

Justin Wortman, regional leader of Aviation and Transportation at HOK said:

We’re thrilled to collaborate with the City and DFDG on this new concourse. It will integrate sustainability and technology to set a new standard for aviation.

At a minimum, the expansion is aiming to achieve LEED Silver certification for environmental and social responsibility.
