LaGuardia Airport Completes Passenger Facilities at Terminal B

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has announced the completion of new passenger facilities at LaGuardia Airport Terminal B as part of the terminal’s 4 billion USD transformation.

The new terminal features 35 gates, a parking garage for 3,000 vehicles, and new covered pickup facilities for taxis and ride-hailing vehicles. Passengers will also benefit from 21st century retail and dining experiences, as well as pleasing art displays and amenities throughout the terminal.

The remaining portion of the old Central Terminal Building will now be torn down by spring 2022.

Governor Hochul said:

“The transformation of LaGuardia airport into a world-class destination that is internationally recognised for its beauty is an integral part of our bold vision for a new era in New York. The completion of this $4 billion project will help provide a brand new passenger experience for everyone traveling through Terminal B, easing connections and creating lasting impressions.”

Notably, the newly completed western skybridge will span an active aircraft taxiway, making Terminal B the world’s first airport with dual pedestrian skybridges.

The two pedestrian bridges are 482 feet long and are placed 60 feet above the ground. They conveniently connect the new arrivals and departures hall to the island concourses and provide passengers with impressive views of the Manhattan skyline.

The skybridges are to be an impressive architectural feature, while also assuring that taxiing aircraft have two ways to enter or exit their gates. Their construction has created more than two additional miles of taxiway space, which will reduce delays for departing and arriving aircraft.

As one of New York's most important gateways, LaGuardia Airport is being reimagined as a beautiful, modern, and welcoming airport, and today's announcement is a breakthrough towards completion.”
