London Gatwick Airport (LGW) has awarded two major contracts as part of its North Terminal redevelopment project.
The two contracts have a combined value of more than 5 million GBP and have been awarded to two Crawley-based companies.
This includes the appointment of BP Installations Ltd as the principal contractor on the project. Under this contract, BP Installations will be responsible for full site safety management, new electrical installation, new flooring and new information and display signage installations.
In addition, CCI Gatwick Ltd has been selected to oversee the interior fitout and decorative finishes.
This work will contribute towards Gatwick’s 10 million GBP investment in its North Terminal Departure Lounge.
Alison Addy, Head of External Engagement and Policy, London Gatwick said:Part of our procurement strategy at London Gatwick is to utilise the services of businesses across our local region where possible, supporting local people, making best use of local expertise, and reducing the environmental impact.
We are delighted to have two local companies so heavily involved in the redevelopment of our North Terminal departure lounge.
The North Terminal redevelopment project is scheduled to be completed in early 2024 and will deliver a range of improvements, including new flooring, contemporary seating with power points, a sustainable planting scheme, local artwork and improved sightlines and wayfinding.
In addition to this project, London Gatwick is currently investing in its long-term future with the submission of a planning application to bring the airport’s Northern Runway into regular use.
