Miami International Airport (MIA) has celebrated the groundbreaking of a new parking garage that will add 2,240 spaces to enhance efficiency for passengers and employees.

This 136 million USD project will construct a seven-level parking garage.

The Park 6 facility is scheduled for completion in summer 2026 and will be located adjacent to MIA’s current Flamingo garage.

It will include modern features such as 50 spaces for electric vehicle charging and energy-efficient LED lighting fixtures.

In addition, its design meets the criteria for Parksmart Silver Certification, which recognises high-performing, sustainable garages.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said:

This major investment into the customer experience at MIA will make parking and entering the airport more convenient than ever before. The new Park 6 garage will create more availability in our Dolphin and Flamingo garages while also expanding parking on the south side of the airport. With one modernisation project after another, MIA is getting future-ready for our growing number of visitors.

The Park 6 project is part of MIA’s 7 billion USD Next Chapter capital improvement programme for airport-wide modernisations and expansions. This programme aims to pave the way for a projected 77 million travellers and four million tonnes of freight to pass through the airport each year by 2024.
