Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has launched PHX RESERVE, a new pilot programme where passengers schedule a specific time to enter the TSA Security Checkpoint.
The service provides users with a dedicated entry point at the security checkpoint. The goal is to move passengers through security more efficiently. This system aims to remove uncertainty for passengers regarding how long it will take to clear them through security.
Chad Makovsky, Director of Aviation Services for the City of Phoenix Aviation Department, said:We are proud Sky Harbor can offer another great service to our customers to make their travels easier and more flexible. What’s good for our passengers and guests is good for the air travel industry as a whole.
Reservations can be made on the PHX RESERVE website up to three days before a passenger’s flight. The passenger will then be issued a QR code that will be scanned upon arrival at their scheduled time.
To provide this service, Phoenix International Airport has partnered with Copenhagen Optimization and CLEAR.
Kasper Hounsgaard, CEO of Copenhagen Optimization, said:Virtual Queuing is a key step towards the smart and digitalised airport, where we leverage data to create new opportunities for passengers, airlines, and airports. Together with Sky Harbor, we enable a more efficient operation and provide the foundation for the seamless passenger journey.
PHX RESERVE is initially available in Sky Harbor Terminal 3, following its launch on 1 March 2022. The PHX RESERVE Security entry point will be open in the terminal between 4am and 3pm.
Reservation times can be selected for between 60 minutes and four hours before a passenger’s departing flight. Passengers traveling as a group of up to 10 people can also reserve an appointment as one.
Michael Twersky, GM Virtual Queuing, CLEAR, said:Now more than ever, travellers want a better and more predictable airport experience, and together with Sky Harbor, PHX RESERVE is providing just that. We are thrilled to partner with Sky Harbor and bring this exciting new technology to their passengers - who can travel stress free knowing they can reserve a spot in security ahead of time.
