Earlier this week, a newly enhanced and expanded rail station opened to passengers at London Gatwick Airport (LGW).
The facility now features a second concourse and airport entrance, doubling the space available to passengers.
In addition, eight new escalators and five new lifts have been installed to improve accessibility, alongside four new stairways and widened platforms. This will help passengers efficiently travel between the station and the airport.
Jonathan Pollard, Chief Commercial Officer, London Gatwick, said:From today, airport passengers travelling by train will have a dramatically improved experience as they pass through the bigger, better and brighter new station concourse. This fantastic new, fully accessible station concourse will encourage even more passengers to come to the airport using sustainable public transport.
The new concourse at Gatwick’s rail station will now act as the entrance for people accessing the airport terminal, while the existing concourse will be the exit.
The existing concourse, as well as the station footbridges and South Terminal linkspan, have also been refurbished and reconfigured to provide an effective one-way system to the airport from the train station.
