San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has announced a five-month closure whilst construction work begins on Runway 28L in early 2024.

Improvements are set to be made to the runway’s taxiway to allow aircraft to exit runways more easily and safely after landing.

SFO has advised passengers there may be delays of anywhere up to 60 minutes during the works

The two taxiways, Delta and Tango, will be removed and reconstructed as separate, non-intersecting taxiways, improving safety and modernising their layout.

The closure will take place from Tuesday 16 January and is expected to be completed by the beginning of July 2024, with SFO advising passengers that delays of up to 60 minutes will be possible during the works.
