Zagreb International Airport (ZAG) has awarded a contract to Alstef Group to expand its baggage handling system (BHS).

This system was installed in 2014 and has since been managed by an on-site Alstef team to ensure reliable service.

The new expansion will add a check-in island with 15 desks, designed to accommodate increased passenger traffic efficiently.

Alstef will also add an extra screening line and multiple conveyor systems to link the new check-in area with existing screening and make-up carousels, streamlining baggage flow.

The expansion will involve constructing a new steel platform to support the infrastructure, along with upgrades to Alstef’s BAGWARE SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and SAC (System Automation Control) systems to maintain optimal system performance and stability.

The expanded system is expected to be operational by early 2025.
