Edinburgh Airport (EDI) has become the latest airport to deploy Veovo’s Intelligent Airport Platform to enhance its operations.
This decision responds to the airport’s rapid growth, which is approaching pre-pandemic levels of more than 15 million passengers annually.
With the airport currently experiencing a 120% increase in trans-Atlantic traffic, EDI now hopes to improve its operational efficiency by accelerating its digital transformation.
As part of this mission, Veovo’s web-based platform will offer improved decision-making by replacing static operational plans with accurate situational awareness tools. This will support the efficient management of airport operations and aircraft turnaround in an often-changing environment.
Specifically, the new technology will provide predictive insight, real-time data and “manage by exception” principles to free up ground staff and help reduce delays. It will also enable EDI to optimise its use of gates, check-in counters and baggage carousels.
Denis McIlroy, Head of IT at Edinburgh Airport said; The fast-paced nature of the airport environment and our business means we need to have a modern system that is as agile and efficient as our operation, which is exactly what Veovo’s system delivers. We’re a very data-driven airport, and the functionality of the Veovo system will complement our work to improve the information for passengers and airlines, as well as respond quickly to potential issues and make informed plans and decisions across our campus.
The technology roll-out will include Veovo’s Airport Operational Database, Resource Management System and Revenue Management modules. These modules will help EDI improve communication and collaboration with aviation partners, while also optimising the use of its fixed assets.
