The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) and JFK Millennium Partners have broken ground on a 4.2 billion USD project to develop a new Jet Blue Terminal 6 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York.

The 1.2 million square foot terminal will feature 10 new gates, 9 of which will accommodate wide-body aircraft.

The new JFK Terminal 6 will be built in two phases, with the first new gates opening in 2026, prior to full completion in 2028.

Governor Kathy Hochul said:

New York remains committed to providing travellers with a premier experience that includes world-class amenities, expanded and streamlined airport transportation, and state-of-the-art security. The groundbreaking of Terminal 6 offers a complete vision for the modernised global gateway while adding 4,000 jobs to New York's workforce.

The modern facility will be equipped with touchless technologies and digital systems to streamline the passenger journey.

It will also feature advanced security systems, such as automated TSA security lanes and biometric-based access control systems.
