London Gatwick Airport has reported its financial results for 2025, outlining stable revenues, continued investment in infrastructure and plans aimed at supporting future growth.

2025 Financial Results
According to the airport’s annual financial statements published on 11 March, revenue for 2025 reached 1.13 billion GBP, an increase of 0.2 percent compared with the previous year. Profit for the year stood at 334.7 million GBP, down 2.4 percent, while EBITDA was 671.6 million GBP, a decrease of 1.2 percent.
Passenger numbers totalled 42.8 million, representing a fall of 1.1 percent. The airport said short-haul traffic declined by 1.9 percent because of temporary aircraft availability issues affecting some airlines. Long-haul passenger numbers increased by 3.3 percent.
Growth was reported across several regions, including Sub-Saharan Africa (22 percent), the Far East and South Asia (24 percent), and the Middle East and Central Asia (17 percent).
Expansion of Airline Partnerships and Destinations
During 2025, the airport hosted 57 airlines over the year and served 227 destinations worldwide. The airport also secured eight new airline partnerships, including an agreement with Jet2, which plans to base six aircraft at Gatwick and operate flights to 29 destinations starting in March 2026.
The airport also completed upgrades to departure lounges in both the North and South Terminals and introduced new retail partners. A refurbished assisted travel lounge was opened to improve facilities for passengers requiring additional support.
Operational Efficiency
Airport operators noted that airfield innovations and coordination with National Air Traffic Services have enabled improvements in runway efficiency. The maximum scheduled aircraft movements per hour are thus expected to increase from 55 in 2025 to 57 in 2026.
Gatwick also reported its best on-time departure performance in a decade, excluding pandemic-affected years, with an 11-percentage-point improvement compared with 2024.
Notably, the airport has introduced time-based separation for arrivals and departures, describing it as a first for a single-runway airport.
Investment Programme and Infrastructure Plans
London Gatwick Airport has outlined a 1.9 billion GBP capital investment programme covering projects planned before the development of its Northern Runway. Planned works include expanded departure lounges, additional taxiways and measures aimed at reducing operational emissions.
During 2025 the airport installed new CT security scanners and began groundwork for the Pier 6 extension, which will add eight aircraft stands and is scheduled for completion ahead of the summer 2027 season.
Northern Runway Development
In September 2025, the UK government granted planning consent for the airport’s Northern Runway project. The approval was issued by the Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander.
This project will allow the airport’s existing Northern Runway to be used routinely alongside the main runway. The 2.2 billion GBP privately financed development is expected to create more than 14,000 jobs and generate about 1 billion GBP annually in regional economic benefits, according to the airport’s projections.
Pierre-Hugues Schmit, London Gatwick Chief Executive, said:London Gatwick delivered a strong performance in 2025, continuing to invest and innovate while driving productivity and efficiency across the business. These achievements are underpinned by our commitment to sustainability, and I want to thank all my colleagues for their dedication and hard work across the year.
Our focus on excellent passenger service is unwavering. During the year we opened our newly refurbished assisted travel lounge and also completed an upgrade to the departure lounge in our South Terminal, alongside welcoming a variety of new retail partners.
Looking ahead, the development plans for the Northern Runway detail how we intend to unlock further growth for the airport, our local communities and the national economy. I am very excited for 2026 which is set to be a transformative year as we remain focused on making London Gatwick the airport for everyone, whatever your journey.
Sustainability Initiatives
The airport achieved PAS 2080 certification in 2025 for managing carbon emissions across the lifecycle of infrastructure projects. It also issued a second 750 million EUR sustainability-linked bond and continued efforts to decarbonise heating systems and expand the use of electric vehicles.
The airport aims to increase its fleet of electric vehicles to around 300 by 2030. Further progress on environmental targets has been outlined in its latest sustainability report, which tracks commitments to meet ten environmental goals by the end of the decade.
