Munich Airport has opened a new inclusive security checkpoint area in Terminal 2 – the first of its kind to be opened within the country.

The checkpoint aims to provide an environment meeting as many needs as possible, with a fully barrier-free experience designed to better support passengers with impaired mobility.

On-hand employees personally welcome travellers and are equipped to adapt the boarding process to meet the passenger’s own pace.

The checkpoint is also expected to benefit families, with its bright design and short children’s films hoped to help kids feel relaxed whilst more space and a larger baggage inspection system aims to ease the control of wheelchairs, walkers, walking aids, and strollers.

It is expected that the new control area will increase the capacity of the central security in Terminal 2 by 400 passengers per hour.
