North Central West Virginia Airport (CKB) has opened a new passenger terminal in Bridgeport, West Virginia, following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new terminal is intended to provide a modern passenger facility for the region, while supporting commercial air services and wider economic activity across North Central West Virginia.

The ribbon-cutting was attended by Governor Patrick Morrisey, airport officials, local leaders and members of the community. Speaking at the opening on 17 August, Morrisey said the terminal would support business and tourism by providing improved airport infrastructure.

The terminal forms part of wider investment in the airport. The Governor’s Civil Contingency Fund previously provided nearly 2 million USD towards a 5 million USD taxiway project connecting the main runway directly with the new terminal.

The investment comes as West Virginia seeks to attract further private-sector investment. The Morrisey administration has announced almost 13 billion USD in private-sector investments since taking office, with the projects expected to create more than 13,700 jobs.

Morrisey also linked the airport investment to West Virginia’s tourism sector. The state recorded more than 77 million visitors last year, generating a reported 9.1 billion USD economic impact and supporting nearly 61,000 jobs.

Governor Morrisey said:

This terminal is more than just a gateway for travellers; it is a launchpad for economic opportunity across North Central West Virginia. By pairing world-class infrastructure with lower taxes and a pro-growth business climate, we are making the Mountain State the best place in the country to live, work, and build an enterprise. Today’s ribbon-cutting shows the nation that West Virginia is moving forward and building for the long haul.

The opening of the CKB terminal provides the airport with upgraded passenger facilities as it continues to serve the North Central West Virginia region.
