Schiphol Airport has announced that it will be offering a temporary discount of over 10% on airport charges due to situations unfolding in the Middle East.

The decision was made due to the unexpected rise of airline costs, resulting in a sharp increase in the price of kerosene.

The discount will run for just under a year

The Airport has stated that it is ‘important to keep the Netherlands connected to the rest of the world and to ensure that essential flights can continue to operate’, and as such has decided to introduce the measure – which applies from 27 April 2026 through to 31 March 2027.

The discount applies solely to daytime flights, as the Airport has stated that it will continue to discourage flying at night due to ‘interests of [its] local environment’.

Whilst Schiphol has confirmed the decision will have a negative effect on financial results, it is not expected to affect investments planned for the next ten years.
