Sea-Tac Concourse C Expansion Approved for Construction

The Port of Seattle has announced that the C Concourse Expansion project at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is now ready for construction.

The project will add four additional floors to the airport’s current three-floor C Concourse. This will include a new floor of office space and three new floors of public amenities, offering new dining and retail options, lounge space, prayer and nursing rooms and an outdoor viewing area.

In addition, an atrium area named the Tree at C will feature grand seating and a performance area for live music.

To enable the construction work to take place, the Port of Seattle Commission has approved a final programme budget of 399 million USD.

A new fly-through video showing the interior and exterior vision for the completed space has also been released and can be viewed here.

Lance Lyttle, Managing Director, SEA Airport said:

“The C Concourse Expansion project is key to establishing SEA’s future as a five-star airport. The C Concourse Expansion will offer more of what guests need by expanding dining and retail options. The project also offers more of what our guests love about SEA, like public art, musical performances, a sensory room, a mothers' nursing room, an Interfaith Prayer and Meditation room, and great gathering spaces. This concourse will be a planespotter’s dream, with the Lookout at C providing views of the airfield and the Olympic Mountains beyond.”

Once complete, the project aims to achieve LEED v4 Silver certification. The facility will be powered solely by electricity and will be fossil-fuel-free. In addition, the roof will feature a solar photovoltaic array, and the design will leverage materials with reduced embodied carbon.

Substantial completion of the C Concourse Expansion project at SEA is expected in 2026.

Port of Seattle Commission President Sam Cho said:

“This is an exceptional project in terms of elevating the customer experience. However, customer experience is not the only reason why we take on these major projects. The expanded concourse will expand opportunities for local businesses and support the financial stewardship of the airport by increasing revenue opportunities. The whole time we build with intention by focusing on sustainability and ensuring that our construction expands opportunities through the entire community.”
