Liberty Defense has signed an agreement with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) to trial its HEXWAVE walkthrough security portal at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Liberty Defense’s HEXWAVE security system offers a layered defence strategy that allows security teams to detect threats at the airport’s perimeter without disrupting the flow of passengers.
Toronto Pearson will be the first airport to trial this walkthrough security detection portal in the third quarter of 2022.
Bill Frain, CEO of Liberty Defense, said:The HEXWAVE is planned to act as an additional layer of security at airports, extending the perimeter of the screened area to include the entrance to the airport itself. As airports continue to look at innovative ways to improve security, technology like HEXWAVE provides the ultimate solution.
HEXWAVE uses 3D radar imaging and artificial intelligence to detect threats and anomalies such as concealed weapons. The device does not disrupt passenger movement, as there is no need to stop or to remove items from pockets.
Dwayne Macintosh, Director of Corporate Safety and Security for the GTAA, said:The GTAA places passenger and staff safety as our highest priority, and this means taking a proactive, innovative approach to staying ahead of emerging threats and minimising them. We look forward to trialing HEXWAVE, and its potential to enhance safety at Toronto Pearson.
In addition to HEXWAVE, Liberty Defense provides multiple aviation security solutions for detecting concealed weapons, including a High-Definition Advanced Imaging Technology (HD-AIT) body scanner and a shoe scanner.
