Liberty Defense Holdings Ltd. has announced that its new HEXWAVE system is set to undergo a series of testing and evaluation at the Port of Oakland in Spring 2024.
The testing will be carried out by the National Safe Skies Alliance, an independent third-party, non-profit outfit which conducts testing of various security systems’ detection abilities, reliability and maintainability whilst under active airport operational and environmental conditions.
All evaluations performed by Safe Skies are maintained under an ISO 9001:2015-approved Quality Management System.
Bill Frain, CEO of Liberty Defense, said:We are looking forward to partnering with Safe Skies and Port of Oakland on this important initiative.
There is a growing demand for the screening of aviation workers and we share the same goal as Safe Skies and the Port of enhancing the security operations with next generation screening technology. As airports continue to look at improving screening protocols, the HEXWAVE technology offers a flexible, proven solution that can be quickly deployed and relocated to multiple areas inside and outside of facilities.
Housed at the Port of Oakland, which encompasses the Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Oakland Seaport as well as roughly 20 miles of waterfront commercial units, HEXWAVE is a contactless threat detection security scanning system intended to pick up concealed non-metallic and metallic objects with the help of AI.
The system utilises the technology to make automated decisions for security operators, with more than 30 units shipped to customers starting from September of 2023, with a recent order marking the first of the systems to reach an international airport in Asia-Pacific.
