Alstef Group has been awarded a contract to supply a new Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Montreal Metropolitan Airport – MET.

This project is part of the airport’s mission to transition into a commercial aviation hub. To achieve this aim, the airport is constructing a new terminal that is set to open in 2025, representing a 200 million CAD investment from YHU Infrastructure Partners.

At the site, the baggage handling system will include 28 check-in conveyors, a collector conveyor, and an out-of-gauge line.

In addition, the use of CTX 9800 Explosives Detection Systems, high-capacity makeup carousels, and airline sortation will streamline operations and enhance the passenger experience.

Meanwhile, the inbound system will consist of two flat-plate carousels.

Alstef Group Regional Sales Manager Gary Kane said:

Alstef Group’s extensive track record in CATSA screening upgrade projects across Canada gave the airport full confidence in our proposal. We anticipate forging a long-lasting partnership with YHU Infrastructure Partners drawing from our extensive 20+ year history of successful collaborations in the region.

The rebranding of Montreal Saint-Hubert Airport to MET – Montreal Metropolitan Airport includes a purposeful shift that emphasises sustainability, innovation, and societal impact, with the adoption of green technologies. Through this project, Alstef Group will support YHU Infrastructure Partners in this mission.
