Delta Air Lines and Los Angeles World Airports have unveiled the final major phase of their 2.3 billion USD Delta Sky Way at LAX project, directly connecting Terminal 3 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to the Tom Bradley International Terminal via moving airside walkways.

The new enclosed passageway creates a direct post-security connection between the upper floors of Terminal 3 and Tom Bradley International Terminal. This eliminates the need for passengers to take a bus between terminals.

This project has been completed 18 months ahead of schedule and on budget.

Scott Santoro, Vice President of Global Sales at Delta said:

This modern, state-of-the-art facility has been at the centre of Delta’s efforts to become the premier airline of Los Angeles, and now, as we celebrate this years-long project being finished much earlier than expected, we are better equipped than ever to provide Angelenos and all of our customers travelling through LA with the truly seamless and elevated experience that they deserve.

With this opening, passengers and airport employees can now travel freely between Terminals 1 to 8 after passing through security.

This significantly enhances efficiency for passengers on connecting flights, while also offering a greater choice of amenities and retail options to all departing passengers.

Delta’s new Terminal 3 at LAX initially opened in April 2022, featuring 27 gates, a centralised check-in lobby and expanded security checkpoints and baggage claim areas. Nine additional gates, new concessions and spacious seating areas then opened in October 2022.

Following these milestones, in May 2023, the Delta Sky Way’s West Headhouse and Delta One check-in area was unlocked as an additional entry point for check-in and security Terminal 3.

Justin Erbacci, Chief Executive Officer, LAWA said:

Having just celebrated the opening of LAX’s Terminal 3 West Headhouse and already hearing an incredible amount of positive feedback on that aspect of the project, I know we can expect similar praise on the new Terminal 3 and Tom Bradley International Terminal post-security connector. This new passageway will significantly enhance the travel experience for millions of international and domestic guests. LAWA is thankful to its amazing partners Delta and Hensel Phelps and the entire LAWA team who rose to the occasion to deliver the Delta Sky Way project.
