The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) has announced that renovation work on the Central Core area at Nashville International Airport (BNA) will begin on June 1 as part of the airport’s long-term expansion programme.

The Central Core Enhancement project is valued at 40 million USD and forms part of New Horizon, BNA’s wider 3 billion USD airport development plan. The work will prepare the terminal for future passenger growth, with annual traveller numbers expected to reach 40 million within the next decade.

During construction, arriving passengers using the Terminal Garages will enter the airport through the first level instead of the current Central Core entry points.

To manage passenger movement during the construction period, BNA plans to introduce additional staff near affected areas to assist travellers. The airport will also expand signage and wayfinding systems across the terminal to help passengers navigate changes to access routes.

Project updates and travel guidance will continue to be shared through the airport’s social media channels and official website. The information is expected to include construction updates, navigation advice and videos showing passenger routes through the terminal.

The airport also continues to advise passengers to arrive two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures.

The renovation is designed to provide additional terminal capacity and support airport operations during periods of high passenger traffic. Once completed, it will increase the number of escalators in the area from six to 16. The airport also plans to add another elevator and replace two existing elevators with larger upgraded systems intended to improve passenger flow and accessibility.
