The US Department of Transportation is awarding 870 million USD in airport infrastructure grants to projects across 44 states and two US territories.
The funding supports runway, terminal and access improvements at airports throughout the country. It was announced by US Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy on 4 August and will be distributed through the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Infrastructure Grants (AIG) programme.
The grants will support a range of projects, including airport planning, terminal upgrades, baggage handling improvements, runway and taxiway rehabilitation, road access works and other safety-related infrastructure.
Among the largest awards is 289 million USD for Los Angeles International Airport to construct a new terminal access road. In addition, Miami International Airport will receive 50 million USD to reconstruct its terminal roof.
Other projects include:
- 9.1 million USD for Akron-Canton Airport, Ohio to rehabilitate passenger boarding bridges and reconstruct airport facilities.
- 4.2 million USD for Juneau International Airport, Alaska to replace snow removal equipment.
- 3.7 million USD for Charleston International Airport, South Carolina to support terminal expansion.
- 3.5 million USD for Sugar Land Regional Airport, Texas to reconstruct its runway.

The Airport Infrastructure Grants programme forms part of the FAA’s wider airport investment strategy, providing funding for projects intended to modernise airport infrastructure and maintain operational resilience across the US aviation network.
